Querer inviabilizar a vida do clube. Estamos tentando liquidar o passado.

Former WP 'keeper Gavin Pfuhl dies

Gavin Pfuhl, the former Western Province wicketkeeper, died in Cape Town on Monday

CricInfo Reporter02-Apr-2002Gavin Pfuhl, the former Western Province wicketkeeper, died in Cape Town on Monday. According to the South African Press Association, Pfuhl, who recently had a heart transplant operation, contracted a virus that resulted in complications causing his death.Pfuhl played 95 first-class games for Western Province between 1967/68 and 1979/80, scoring 2 331 runs at 21.58 while taking 280 catches and 34 stumpings. He later became an astute and informative television commentator.Former South African captain and currently executive director of the 2003 World Cup, Ali Bacher, paid tribute to Pfuhl."Gavin played for Western Province around the time that Eddie Barlow was captain and I captained Transvaal," said Bacher. "In those days the rivalry between the two provinces was particularly intense and Gavin was a key member of the side. He was an excellent `keeper in the days that Province had Denys Hobson bowling legspin and I believe that he was easily good enough to have played international cricket."He became a TV commentator in recent years and what I liked about his commentary was that he was always so positive about South African cricket," said Bacher.

Wolves transfer update on Rafael Leao

Many Wolves fans have been flocking to a transfer update involving Rafael Leao.

As per Gazzetta Dello Sport (via Sport Witness), AC Milan would be willing to sell the striker if a sufficiently tempting offer came in from the Midlands club.

Leao’s agent Jorge Mendes is working on trying to convince clubs, including Wolves, to offer €25m (£21.5m) or more for his client, and think that the Molineux outfit, as well as Borussia Dortmund and Marseille, would be willing to pay that asking price.

Leao is  an exciting up-and-coming talent at just 22 years of age and has even been previously likened to both Cristiano Ronaldo and Kylian Mbappe in the past.

However, he only managed to score seven goals in 40 games in all competitions across the 2020/21 season (criticised for his attitude on the pitch.

Wolves fans on Leao transfer update

These Wolves supporters seemed split as the transfer update was shared on Twitter, with one asking whether he could be swapped for former Milan striker Patrick Cutrone, who has flopped at Molineux:

Waqar looks at at bowling options for Lahore

It was Mike Brearley who once penned his suspicions about the motto ‘Never change a winning side’

Stephen Lamb25-Apr-2002It was Mike Brearley who once penned his suspicions about the motto ‘Never change a winning side’. He believed – and his record suggests that he was right – that if it’s possible to improve a team, no matter how well it’s playing, then you should. The remarks of the Pakistan captain after their tense win over New Zealand at Rawalpindi, which has given them an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match one-day series, show that he’s clearly of the same inclination. Waqar Younis felt that his batsmen had made up for a lethargic display by the bowlers that had allowed New Zealand to post a challenging total of 277 for 5.”I hope a couple of youngsters will be given a chance to play in Lahore since we have already won the series,” Waqar said. “Everyone has a bad day but I am happy that our batsmen made up for our bowlers’ show.”If economy is his concern, Wasim Akram, Shoaib Akhtar and Saqlain Mushtaq – who went for more than five an over yesterday – are the three bowlers whose places will come under scrutiny. Nevertheless Waqar was full of praise for his side’s teamwork.”We just had to bat for the whole of 50 overs because the wicket was good for batting,” he said. “We are playing as a team and everyone is putting in his best.”New Zealand can take heart from the fact that they competed all the way despite their current rash of injuries. Their captain Stephen Fleming was magnanimous. “We posted a good total but it was not enough in the end,” he said. “With Inzamam batting at number six, they always had a long batting line-up.”

Júlio César assumiu a titularidade e deve defender a meta outra vez.

Leeds eyeing England U21 star Noni Madueke

Leeds United have been name-checked as one of the sides interested in signing England U21 international Noni Madueke this summer.

What’s the story?

Reports in recent weeks and months had suggested that Marcelo Bielsa’s side have already put out feelers for the PSV star over a potential summer move.

The Daily Mail then claimed that the winger is valued at around £15m, although the Whites were likely to face competition from the likes of Leicester and AC Milan.

Now, Foot Mercato have revealed that several clubs across Europe are eyeing a potential move for the exciting winger after his impressive spell at PSV, with Marcelo Bielsa’s side one of them.

A new Raphinha

When this Premier League campaign is fully said and done, there’s no questioning that Raphinha will be right up there with the signings of the season. The Brazilian has been an absolute revelation at Elland Road, managing six goals and six assists in the top flight and bringing some real excitement to Elland Road with his tricks and fearlessness.

In Madueke, Leeds could find someone who is incredibly similar with his explosiveness, skills and a wand of a left foot.

Former England under-21 manager Aidy Boothroyd hailed his ability, saying: “He’s a powerhouse of a player, technically very good, left-footed and likes to come in off the side of the pitch, off the right and go and link.

“He’s got a goal in him, he’s very creative. He’s got a massive smile, a lovely kid. The lads have taken to him, as they would because he’s a good player, he has that respect for what he’s done at PSV.”

Meanwhile, former PSV ace Tommie van de Leegte also raved about the England teenager, declaring (via Goal): “He’s fast and has the capability to trick his opponent. He brings creativity and is very explosive in his actions. That’s what PSV needs.”

And, with suggestions that Helder Costa could be set for an exit from Elland Road too, Leeds could wave goodbye to the Portuguese ace and welcome one of England’s most exciting young talents in the process.

Meanwhile, this Leeds United transfer target would be a major upgrade…

Wolves confirm Trincao loan signing

Lots of Wolves fans have been expressing their delight as the Midlands club confirmed the signing of Trincao on their official Twitter channel.

As per the club’s official website, he joins on a season-long loan from Barcelona, with an option to buy him in the future.

Wolves technical director Scott Sellars has described Trincao as an ‘exciting’ player, who ‘drives with the ball well’ and has ‘good creativity’.

The winger will be very familiar with some of his new teammates given that he has played in six senior games for the Portugal national team, and also played with Pedro Neto at Braga, with whom he briefly featured against Wolves in the Europa League in the autumn of 2019. He clocked nine goals and 13 assists in that season to earn his move to Camp Nou.

Trincao is an emerging talent at just 21 years of age, and by playing alongside the likes of Lionel Messi, he will have gained a lot of experience and knowledge from some of the best footballers in the world.
