انتقد مدرب فريق توتنهام جوزيه مورينيو، حصول مانشستر سيتي على ركلة جزاء، في مباراتهما اليوم في بطولة الدوري الإنجليزي الممتاز.

وتلاقى الفريقان في إطار منافسات الجولة الرابعة والعشرين من البطولة، حيث خسر توتنهام بثلاثة أهداف دون رد.

Loads of Newcastle fans have been reacting to some transfer news on a former player, as Kenedy is reportedly set to join Championship outfit Reading.

Talk Reading claim the Royals are set to secure the capture of the Chelsea winger on loan, before Thursday’s transfer deadline.

Mark Douglas, publishing editor for The Chronicle, has added validity to the report, claiming that the Magpies were quoted at £30m to sign the youngster permanently last summer, while Oliver Harbord of Football.London has also seemingly confirmed the move is on, calling it a “strange move”.

The young Blue spent 18 months on loan on Tyneside, impressing in his first temporary stay before completely going off the boil last season, registering just one goal and one assist in 25 league appearances.

With all due respect to Reading, being quoted to Premier League teams at a whopping £30m is quite a height to fall to last season’s twentieth-best team in the Championship from, and the Toon Army are sad to hear of the 23 year-old’s fate.

Maybe he will rediscover his spark without the pressure of the top-flight, but the Twitter reactions down below are disappointed in their former loanee…

Speaking on Sky Sports after Tottenham’s 3-1 win over Aston Villa, former Spurs star Rafael van der Vaart expressed his disbelief at Harry Maguire’s price tag, and also had some harsh words saved for the centre-back regarding his Nations League performance against the Netherlands.

Maguire moved to Old Trafford from Leicester in a deal worth £80m, a new world-record fee for a centre-back eclipsing the £75m that Liverpool spent on Virgil van Dijk.

The England international has since made his debut for the Red Devils, where he earned the Man of the Match award for his commanding performance in a 4-0 win over Chelsea.

What did he say?

The former Real Madrid man said: “It’s funny. We were in the Nations League, Holland vs England. I was working for Dutch TV and Harry Maguire was the worst player on the pitch.

“And then two months later, £80-£90m? Unbelievable.”

Maguire makes him eat his words

The Dutchman certainly didn’t mince his words regarding what he thought of Maguire, but he should’ve waited until the Englishman had at least made his debut for the Red Devils.

One bad game doesn’t determine the player that Maguire is and the match in question that van der Vaart referenced involved an evidently poorer performer.

This was the game where John Stones was at fault for Quincy Promes’ goal in extra-time which handed the lead to the Dutch, before another risky ball from the Manchester City man put Ross Barkley under pressure and saw Ronald Koeman’s side go 3-1 up.

Regardless, Maguire made the former Tottenham No.11 eat his words with a heroic display against Chelsea at Old Trafford on Sunday, earning the Man of the Match award from Sky Sports as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side romped to a 4-0 win.

The former Sheffield United centre-back won four aerial duels, made a huge seven clearances and also blocked two shots as he was instrumental in United keeping a clean sheet.

Van der Vaart was harsh to judge Maguire on one game where he wasn’t even notably bad, and his stellar debut alone has already silenced the former Spurs star’s criticisms. While it’s still very early days, Maguire looked every bit worth that price-tag against Chelsea.

The signing of Che Adams looks to be a good piece of business by Southampton.

At 23 years of age, he is young enough to increase in value and become even better, whilst he is also English which will help the Saints in terms of meeting their homegrown quota.

Aside from those factors, the £15m arrival from Birmingham also looks to be a good purchase due to his form in pre-season.

Adams netted three goals in friendly matches for Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side, showcasing his ruthless finishing and positional awareness.

However, against Burnley on the opening weekend of the new Premier League season, a familiar trend reared its ugly head.

As you can see, Adams didn’t play too well on his Premier League debut, and his teammates couldn’t carry him through the game either as the Saints were on the end of a 3-0 thumping.

Irregardless of the scoreline, the familiar trend that I had adhered to earlier was that Adams seems to be involved in a significant moment early on in a match, before going on to do very little in the time remaining.

For example, on his debut against SCR Altach, Adams netted inside the first two minutes before going on to do nothing else of note throughout the game.

In the next friendly after that, the 5 foot 9 striker scored again, this time even faster than his previous strike with this one coming inside the first minute – no more key involvements followed again, however.

In the next game against Feyenoord, Adams netted inside the first six minutes before again going on to be quiet.

Against Burnley, Adams had a decent chance within the first three minutes which hit the side netting, and from then on he was a mere spectator for what turned out to be the Ashley Barnes show.

His four fouls committed against the Clarets hint at signs of frustration due his lack of involvement, and he was arguably lucky not to see red for his ill-timed challenge on Ben Mee.

The former Birmingham City man must now amend this worrying pattern for himself, and for his new employers.

However, not all seemed to be happy with the performance of the team and one of those people was Jeremy Clarkson, formerly the star of the popular TV show Top Gear.

Clarkson fired a shot at James Maddison on Twitter, essentially telling him he’s not good enough and it didn’t take long for the player to respond himself.

Maddison basically just told Clarkson he should stick to cars because he clearly doesn’t know much about football.

The ex-Top Gear’s star’s comments were also pretty weird since Maddison registered the assist for the goal that ended up giving Leicester City their point on the night.

A number of Tottenham Hotspur fans believe that defender Davinson Sanchez is underrated by his own supporters.

The 23-year-old joined the club in 2017 in a club-record deal from Ajax – the figure of £42m was eclipsed by Tanguy Ndombele’s acquisition in the summer – and Spurs’ official Twitter account commemorated the anniversary on Friday.

Since his signing, Sanchez has made a total of 80 appearances for Spurs and has started the club’s first two games of the season, against Aston Villa and Manchester City.

He made 37 appearances in all competitions last season, though he was on the bench for the Champions League final against Liverpool.

A full Colombia international who has won 22 caps for his country, Sanchez has been praised by a number of supporters, who believe that his talent goes under the radar even within the terraces at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
