According to the Daily Mail, Crystal Palace will need to pay £25m if they want to sign Nice attacker Allan Saint-Maximin this summer, and chairman and co-owner Steve Parish could get back into some Eagles fans’ good books if he sanctions a deal.

What’s the word, then?

Well, the Daily Mail report that the south London outfit see the 22-year-old as a player who can not only provide competition for Wilfried Zaha in the present, but also potentially be his long-term replacement should the Ivory Coast international leave Selhurst Park.

According to the BBC, Palace would want £80m to consider selling the 26-year-old, although they are reluctant to do any business this summer having already seen Aaron Wan-Bissaka depart for Manchester United.

Eagles supporters on Twitter weren’t happy with Parish over the exit of the 21-year-old for an initial £45m fee, with the Red Devils keeping their 25% sell-on clause for Zaha intact. A previous report in The Guardian on Monday suggested he wanted £50m up front and the clause either reduced or removed entirely, and some fans were quick to say he bottled it in the end.

Chance to make amends

Signing Saint-Maximin for £25m is a bit of a no-brainer for Palace now they have received £45m for Wan-Bissaka, and he would be an exciting addition to Roy Hodgson’s side’s frontline.

A potential attack of the Frenchman, Wilfried Zaha and Andros Townsend could be on the cards come the beginning of the new season in August, which would certainly frighten plenty of Premier League defences next term.

Six goals and three assists in 34 Ligue 1 appearances in 2018/19 show the ability that Saint-Maximin has in his locker, while he successfully completed 143 of the 252 dribbles he attempted.

He is clearly a player who would get Crystal Palace supporters off of their seats, and the club shouldn’t waste any time getting a move secured.

وقال ريفالدو في تصريحات نشرتها شبكة “فوتبول إسبانيا” العالمية: “الإدارة السابقة أخطأت بعدم بيع ميسي عندما كان لا يزال لديه عقد”.

وأضاف: “كان بإمكانهم فعل شيء مشابه لما فعله ريال مدريد مع رونالدو عندما باعوه لـ يوفنتوس وحصلوا على ما يقرب من 100 مليون يورو”.

Atletico want Lacazette

As such, latest reports involving star striker Alexandre Lacazette will be worrying for both the Arsenal hierarchy and Gunners fans. According to the Mirror, Atletico Madrid are interested in signing the Frenchman as they look to replace Antoine Griezmann, who is expected to complete a move to Barcelona soon. Lacazette signed for Arsenal in 2017 for a then-record £46.5m and has since scored 36 goals in 88 games for the club.

Real eye Pogba-Bale swap

Paul Pogba’s time at Manchester United since returning to the club from Juventus in 2016 has been turbulent, and he may even be on the move this summer if reports in regards to a potential switch to Real Madrid are to be believed. And that saga has taken another twist, with Marca reporting that Los Merengues want to include Gareth Bale in a swap deal for the French World Cup winner. Bale signed for Real in 2013 and, despite scoring over 100 goals for the club, he has still been on the end of some abuse from the Madrid fans.

Fee agreed for Perez

Newcastle United are already without a manager following the departure of Rafael Benitez, who has now joined Chinese Super League side Dalian Yifang, and they may soon be saying goodbye to last season’s top goalscorer as well. The BBC reported on Tuesday that the Toon and Leicester City have agreed a fee for Spanish striker Ayoze Perez. The sum is reported to be £30m. Perez joined the North-East outfit from Spanish side Tenerife for £1.5m in 2014 and has since scored 48 goals in 195 appearances for the club.

After signing for Liverpool from Ruch Chorzow in the summer of 2016, Kamil Grabara has predominantly featured for the Reds’ youth sides whilst at Anfield.

The 20-year-old goalkeeper turned out for Poland U21s during this summer’s European Championships, but in the latest update on his future, Grabara will not be with Liverpool for the upcoming campaign.

As confirmed on the club’s official website, the shot-stopper has signed a new long-term contract with Liverpool before joining Championship side Huddersfield on a season-long loan.

Having heard Grabara had penned a new deal with the club before heading out on a temporary basis, Reds fans took to Twitter to voice their opinion on the matter.

Many supporters of the Merseyside club insisted that it was a “great move” for him to join Huddersfield and remarked that he would improve significantly in his time under Jan Siewert.

Indeed, Liverpool fans were adamant that the 6 ft 5 stopper would “come back stronger” the following season and even predicted that the 20-year-old could become the future number one at Anfield.

Speaking on talkSPORT, former Crystal Palace manager Sam Allardyce has urged Arsenal to “stop messing around” in their pursuit to sign Wilfried Zaha.

What did he say?

Reports in recent weeks had suggested that the Gunners had not given up hope of signing Zaha, after they saw an initial bid for the Ivory Coast international rejected.

Despite suggestions that the Gunners would potentially be coming back in with an improved bid, Allardyce reminded the north London side that the transfer window deadline is approaching and warned them about dithering for any longer.

The ex-England boss said: “Pay the money. Time’s running out and the window is going to shut. If Manchester United are having to pay £90m for a centre-half, which is what they’ve been quoted for (Harry) Maguire, then this £70m/£80m price tag being put on Zaha is well worth it in light of the market we’re operating in today.

“Wilfried is proven at this level and he’d be a massive success at Arsenal. He’s ready, but Arsenal need to stop messing around like they are the minute.

“Wilfried is in his prime – there’s not too many players like him about. He’s ready now to move on now, so Arsenal just need to get the deal done.”

As the Gunners’ final pre-season friendly on their tour of the USA came to an end against Real Madrid, all eyes turned straight back to what Unai Emery’s side will be doing in the transfer market for the rest of the window.

Arsenal face a tricky start to the Premier League campaign with the likes of Liverpool and Tottenham to come in the early weeks of the season, and need to get up and running as soon as possible.

Leaving a deal for Zaha to the last minute in the hope they can drive a hard bargain is a dangerous game, and could potentially leave them with egg on their face. As Allardyce suggests, the Gunners simply have to push the boat out immediately and bring the 26-year-old in, if indeed he is their main priority this summer.

Wolves are on the tail of AC Milan’s Patrick Cutrone according to Express & Star who understand the Midlands side believe they can get a deal done.

Per the report, talks are at an advanced stage as Nuno Santo’s men look to take advantage of the Italian giants searching for funds in order to snap up Angel Correa.

The Argentine was linked with Wolves himself last week but it seems as though they could profit from his potential Atletico Madrid departure in another way.

Yet, if Cutrone did indeed arrive at Molineux, it could mean a different role for Diogo Jota.

On the chalkboard

It took a while for Jota to get accustomed to the pace of the Premier League after netting 17 in the Championship.

The Portuguese hadn’t scored before December but then went onto bag nine in total, taking the division by storm in the second half of the campaign.

The last two years of his career have been extremely similar to Cutrone’s. The Italian scored 18 goals in all competitions two seasons ago before scoring the same number of goals as Jota did in the Premier League across league and cup action in 2018/19.

Milan’s number 63 has played out on the left-hand side on occasion but is at his best when playing directly through the middle.

However, if you assess the positions on the pitch that he shoots from, there is a big similarity with Jota too.

Per Understat, Cutrone likes to drift over towards the left of the box, getting into shooting positions between the six-yard area and the penalty spot on a regular basis.

Based on the evidence of 2018/19, however, he struggles to actually hit the target, missing nine shots completely in these areas.

But this is a position where Jota also loves to operate.

Understat proves that the 22-year-old likes to move over to the left with Raul Jimenez on the right of him, getting far closer to goal and finding himself in more shooting positions than Cutrone.

Therefore, if Wolves do indeed land the Italian youth international, Jota may be forced into changing positions if he becomes a central figure in Nuno Santo’s plans.

Should they played together as strikers, it’s highly likely that they may end up moving into similar areas, thus hindering the team.

Considering Cutrone is a more out and out forward, he might be played alongside Jimenez with the dynamic Jota slightly behind with a change of role.

Liverpool continued their preparations for the 2019-20 campaign with a 3-0 defeat to Italian giants Napoli in Edinburgh on Sunday afternoon.

It was a tough game for the Reds, who improved in the second half but could not find a way past Carlo Ancelotti’s side to give their fans something to cheer.

Alisson Becker’s absence meant that there was another start for Simon Mignolet between the sticks, with the 22-time Belgium international still at the club.

In fairness, there was not much that Mignolet could have done about the first two goals.

However, he did palm the ball straight out to Amin Younes for the 25-year-old to score a third for Napoli early in the second period.

And it would be fair to say that a number of the Liverpool fans were not overly pleased with what they saw from Mignolet once again.

Indeed, a number took to social media both during and after the game in Scotland to show their disappointment.
