Tottenham fans love swap deal to grab Perisic

According to Italian reports, Inter Milan could offer Ivan Perisic to Spurs to secure Mousa Dembele this summer, and Tottenham fans are loving the idea.

Tottenham seem resigned to losing Mousa Dembele this summer, but reports in Italy suggest they could get Inter Milan winger Ivan Perisic as part of the deal.

According to Corriere dello Sport (via Calciomercato), Inter Milan will look to beat AC Milan, Napoli and Juventus in the race for Dembele by offering up Perisic, who was reported as a Tottenham target earlier this summer.

Perisic, who grabbed 11 goals and nine assists for Inter this season, is expected to star at this summer’s World Cup for Croatia.

The powerful winger was strongly linked with a move to Manchester United last year, and would be a massive coup for Spurs, especially considering Dembele could leave for free if they keep him until next summer.

Pochettino is desperate for some more firepower up front, and the Croatian international’s mixture of versatility, pace, creativity and goals could basically give Spurs another Heung-min Son.

Both Perisic and Son can play with two feet, from the wing or through central areas, both are unstoppable at full pelt, and both have far superior end product to the average winger. The Croatian could be even be considered to be an upgraded version of Son, as he has been performing consistently for longer than the extremely popular South Korean.

Tottenham fans don’t want to lose Dembele, but they all agree getting Perisic as part of the deal would soften the blow, and you can find some of the best Twitter reactions down below…

Rangers fans are keen on a short-term deal for defender Gareth McAuley

Rangers supporters are keen on bringing West Bromwich Albion defender Gareth McAuley to Ibrox this summer, after he was linked with a move to the club earlier this week.

Rangers badly need defensive improvements this summer after conceding far too many goals in the Scottish Premiership last season and despite being 38 years of age, are said to fancy a deal for McAuley.

The Daily Record reported that he is a target for Director of Football Mark Allen, after his contract expired at the relegated Baggies.

With over 200 career Premier League appearances and dozens of caps for Northern Ireland, he is as experience as they come at the top level and could bring steely determination to a lightweight defensive line.

However, at 38 years of age, there’s always an element of risk that his days performing consistently week-to-week are coming to an end.

Supporters seem eager regardless, believing he could be a perfect defensive partner for the potentially incoming Connor Goldson.

Is he the man to sort out the Light Blues defensive woes?

Revealed: Most Tottenham Hotspur fans want to fend off interest in Wanyama

Victor Wanyama had a difficult 2017-18 season at Tottenham Hotspur due to injury problems.

The midfielder missed the majority of the first half of the campaign, but when he did regain fitness he struggled to break back into the team.

[ad_pod ]

In fact, the Kenya international, who has earned 50 caps for his country, made just 24 appearances in all competitions, and 18 of those outings were in the Premier League.

Wanyama – valued at £27m by Transfermarkt – had a memorable moment when he struck a thunderbolt of a strike against Liverpool in the top flight, but other than that, his campaign was fairly lacklustre.

[brid autoplay=”true” video=”255896″ player=”12034″ title=”Watch Tottenham’s opening fixtures for the 201819 Premier League season”]

According to a recent report in German publication Bild, Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund are keeping a close eye on the strong midfielder ahead of a potential move.

Wanyama has publicly indicated that he wants to remain at Tottenham, but given that manager Mauricio Pochettino did not feel any urgency to play him, leads to questions about his future.

We asked you if the club should sanction a move to Dortmund and focus on other targets, and the outcome was very clearly in favour of the midfielder staying put.

Revealed: The three players Rangers fans are urging their club to sign this summer

The Steven Gerrard era is underway at Rangers. The new boss and his assistant Gary McAllister have started building their squad as they look to challenge Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic for the Scottish Premier League title in the coming season.

Liverpool legend Gerrard has already signed six players on permanent deals, including former Burnley midfielder Scott Arfield, ex-Hull keeper Allan McGregor and former Liverpool right-back Jon Flanagan all on free transfers. Gerrard has also used his Anfield connections to bring youngster Ovie Ejaria to Ibrox on loan.

With more business expected before the transfer window closes, we asked Rangers fans who they would like to see sign for their club. Here’s a rundown of the three players who received the strongest backing in our poll…

3. Kyle Bartley

The current Swansea centre-back is valued at £3.15m by Transfermarkt. Bartley spent time on loan at Ibrox while on Arsenal’s books during 2011 and 2012, scoring his first senior goal in a 1-0 win over St Mirren in 2011.

The Scottish Sun have reported that Swansea want £5m for the 27-year-old, but Rangers are confident of getting him for half of that fee.

2. Harry Wilson

Wilson, 21, is regarded as one of the brightest prospects at Liverpool at the moment. Predominantly a right-winger, the Welshman scored seven goals and provided four assists in just 13 games while on loan at Hull in the Championship for the second half of last season.

Those performances have no doubt alerted a number of Premier League clubs and in all honesty, a loan deal for one of Wilson’s young Liverpool teammates such as Ben Woodburn is more likely.

1. Dominic Solanke

With 1350 up votes and only 78 down votes, the player Rangers fans most want to sign this summer is Liverpool striker Dominic Solanke. The 20-year-old made 21 appearances in the Premier League last season (mostly off the bench) as he played back-up to Roberto Firmino at Anfield.

Solanke eventually got his first Premier League goal against Brighton on the last day of the season but has proven he can be prolific with his scoring record for the England youth teams. If Jurgen Klopp brings in another striker Solanke may well find himself on loan north of the border.

Baines’ heir: Landing £4.5m-rated Scottish ace would solve Everton’s left-back conundrum

One area of Everton’s squad Marco Silva is looking to improve is at left-back. Sky Sports have recently reported that the Toffees have targeted Bayer Leverkusen’s Wendell and Germany international Marvin Plattenhardt. But according to the Daily Mirror, the Merseyside club could now turn their attention towards Celtic prodigy Kieran Tierney in a move that must absolutely be pursued.

The Breakdown

At 33, Everton’s current first-choice left-back Leighton Baines is coming towards the end of his Goodison Park career and possibly his time in the Premier League. TEAMtalk reports that the England international could be set to join former team-mate Wayne Rooney in the MLS.

Baines is at the age where he won’t be able to play 38 games a season or have the influence he once did on the left flank from a very physically demanding position and role. But he’d still be a useful asset to have and selling him would see Everton needing to sign two new left-backs during this transfer window.

Nevertheless, regardless of Baines’ situation, Everton need a left-back for both now and in the future.

In that regard, £4.5m-rated (via Transfermarkt) Tierney is the ideal candidate. At 21 years of age, Tierney is still in the very early days of his career, yet already has a tonne of experience under his belt having cemented the position of first-choice left-back at Celtic.

As well as making appearances in the Champions League, Tierney has also played for the Scotland national team, further indicating the sort of footballing maturity he possesses despite being so young.

With all of that in mind, Tierney is a player that Celtic aren’t going to let go without putting up a fight. Any potential transfer is going to be an expensive one, while Everton would likely face competition for the Scotland international’s services, with the Times having recently reported on interest from Manchester United.

Everton, though, must put themselves at the front of the queue if there’s even a remote chance of signing Tierney this summer

Premier League dream: Wolves would hold their own if they could secure these 3 signings

Wolves fans in the Transfer Tavern can’t wait for the new season to start as they return to the Premier League after a six-year absence.

Although some have forgotten they actually need to do some great business this summer to hold their own in arguably the world’s most competitive league.

Since being bought by Chinese owners in 2016 the club has spent £67m on transfers, and if they continue that spending this pre-season they have a greater chance than Cardiff or Fulham of staying up.

They already signed Benik Afobe from Bournemouth, Willy Boly of Porto, Benfica’s Raul Jimenez and World Cup-standout goalkeeper Rui Patricio, so who else would help the fight for survival?

Having said that, here’s a closer look at who would be ideal fits to come in and light Molineux up once more.

Jack Wilshere

It’s well documented Jack Wilshere is leaving Arsenal this summer, but who he signs for is yet to be decided.

Juventus have reportedly curbed their interest and a move to West Ham is increasingly unlikely, leaving Southampton, Sampdoria, AC Milan and Wolves in the mix for the English playmaker.

They have all reportedly tabled offers for the 26-year-old who is a free agent as of July 1, and if Javi Grecia can pull this one off, it would be massive for their Premier League pedigree.

Ahmed Musa

Ahmed Musa has looked direct and effective for Nigeria in the World Cup and it could be exactly what Wolves need on the counter attack.

The Midlands’ club, Marseille and Galatasaray are all said to be interested in the Leicester wideman who spent last season on loan at CSKA Moscow.

His agent told radio station Radyospor he has already talked with Galatasaray And the pull of Champions League football may see him head to Turkey, but what’s the harm in testing the waters?

Alfie Mawson

Having played every game for relegated Swansea last season, Alfie Mawson could provide that top-flight experience Wolves so desperately need.

They have been linked with Lazio’s Wallace but there are fears he won’t adapt to the physicality of the country quick enough, so Mawson seems the best fit.

Swansea have already rejected a bid from West Ham for 24-year-old, according to the BBC, so Wolves need to up their interest before he signs a deal elsewhere.

Sunderland new boy Bailey Wright could be costly to the defence

Sunderland have completed the signing of Bailey Wright but the transfer may not be as an astute a move as it seems on paper. The defender arriving on loan may cause frustration for some fans as it indicates a lack of spending but given Wright’s injury record it is a sensible decision. He has played in just 15 league games in the past year-and-a-half, with just four appearances this term, and that shows he would be a big risk to sign on a long-term contract. The concern from certain segments of the fanbase, therefore, is rather understandable.

However, a temporary spell gives the club time to assess his ability and fitness, meaning it’s a win-win situation.

One of the biggest positives is the experience and leadership he possesses. With 24 caps for Australia and 130 games played at Championship level, including captaining the Robins since summer 2017, there is a clear level of expertise in his locker.

Disrupting the defence

Wright may have experience but given Sunderland’s current fortunes, it’s difficult to see where the 27-year-old actually fits in at the Stadium of Light.

Watch Sunderland Videos With StreamFootball.tv Below

Phil Parkinson has achieved significant progress in guiding the team to seven games unbeaten, and much of that success has been down to the continuity in playing personnel starting each game, specifically at the back.

That has had a particularly profound effect on the defence, with the back five finally beginning to understand the system in place as well as each other’s roles, and it is paying off.

Luke O’Nien and Denver Hume have provided balance between attack and defence on the flanks while the central three have kept things solid, as four goals conceded over the seven-game period would suggest.

Alim Ozturk is one player who has looked rejuvenated in recent weeks, as his return of one interception and 3.8 clearances per game would attest to. Therefore, Wright coming in could upset the apple cart and disrupt an area of the team that appears to be ever-improving.

Parkinson may be keen to integrate his new signing quickly but there is no need to change a winning formula. That means the Australian should have to earn his place on merit, potentially coming into the team if one of Ozturk, Jordan Willis, or Joel Lynch are unavailable.

Meanwhile, one pundit has made it clear to a Sunderland target about what he should do this month.

Three things Man United simply must do to beat Liverpool

Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal enjoyed a decent start to his second year in charge until it was halted by Swansea’s comeback before the international break.

The Dutchman will be eager to get back to winning ways and there is a great opportunity for his side to gain some momentum this weekend against fierce rivals Liverpool.

What must United do though to ensure they gain the vital home win? Here are three things we think Louis van Gaal simply needs to look at if he’s to get all three points against United’s old enemy…

Overload the flanks

The Old Trafford crowd will expect their side to dominate proceedings from the first whistle and pin their arch rivals back.

The key to this will be the wide areas, where the two full-backs have been an impressive feature of Van Gaal’s team so far this season.

Luke Shaw seems to be enjoying his best spell yet in United colours and showed signs that he is in form by offering an excellent attacking option for England this week.

Meanwhile on the right, Matteo Darmian has settled fastest of all the new recruits in the Red Devils’ squad and looks to be ticking all the boxes as an attacking full-back.

United’s attacking midfielders such as Juan Mata and Memphis Depay will drift infield allowing Shaw and Darmian to overlap and ensure Liverpool are fenced in.

A massive bonus for Van Gaal is that the opposition’s biggest counter attacking threat, Philippe Coutinho, misses the match through suspension.

Liverpool of course have other players who are dangerous on the break but the absence of Coutinho reduces the risk for United if they choose to be extra adventurous on the flanks.

Get the goalkeeper right

The biggest decision facing the manager and his coaching staff this week surrounds the goalkeeping position and it is likely to be much nearer to kick off time before we learn who is going to don the gloves for United in Saturday’s derby.

Sergio Romero has so far received absolute backing from his boss and seemed to be repaying that faith with a succession of clean sheets as United made a steady start.

Against Swansea, however, the Argentine failed to continue his solidity and with David De Gea now staying at Old Trafford, many are wondering if Romero’s time as number one is up.

De Gea meanwhile has endured a turbulent few months culminating in the last-minute collapse of his dream move to Real Madrid.

Van Gaal openly stated that Romero was picked in front of the Spanish star as De Gea was clearly affected by the transfer speculation.

Where and when to re-introduce United’s best player from the last two campaigns is a massive decision.

Both goalkeepers are likely to feel immense pressure if they start on Saturday.

Van Gaal must watch the pair like a hawk this week before making the call. Having the coolest head between the sticks will be vital if United are to prevail.

Feature Fellaini

The big Belgian was a surprise star performer for United last term.

Signed by David Moyes, many thought that Van Gaal’s arrival would see him slip into the background, but he was an unlikely hero on numerous occasions as the Red Devils clawed their way back into Champions League football.

The new arrivals in the summer though have seen his game-time limited so far this campaign.

During the international break, Fellaini, in Belgian colours, reminded us all of the many string to his bow.

It is not necessary that United select him from the start, although there is an argument that his combative style could be suited to the derby fixture.

It is vital however, that he is in the match day squad.

His height and strength give United a different kind of threat, something to try if the more aesthetic probing of Wayne Rooney, Juan Mata and Memphis Depay fails to deliver.

He is useful at the other end, too. Benteke will be a handful for Smalling and Blind; they could be grateful for Fellaini’s help at set pieces late in the game.

Likewise, if Liverpool choose to target the United goalkeeper at crosses, the towering Belgian could provide a welcome and bulky buffer.

Five Premier League loans Nottingham Forest should still consider

Nottingham Forest have been making use of the loan window, despite their recent troubles with a transfer embargo. Liam Trotter and Jonny Williams have both arrived in order to bolster an injury ravaged midfield, and the recent win over Derby has helped lift the spirits.

Perhaps not completely, but the 1-0 win over their rivals served as a reminder that this Forest side can remain competitive despite their off the field issues. It is important to note that they were only a point outside the play-off spots earlier this season, before a dip in form that coincided with their injury crisis.

Ending Paul Clement’s impressive run of 10 games unbeaten last week will lift the spirits, and the fact that Liam Trotter’s loan has been extended a further month will help round out the squad. However, there is still some room for improvement.

Finances may be tight, and it may not be quite as simple as identifying a target and chasing him these days, but there are some gems within the loan market to be found.

If those behind the scenes at the City Ground can pull any of these deals off, it is likely to help them in the long run.

Here are FIVE Premier League loan Nottingham Forest should consider…

PATRICK BAMFORD – CHELSEA

Obviously, his loan at Crystal Palace would have to come to an end, though that is something that does seem likely. The striker has rarely featured for the Eagles, and reports suggest the Blues could recall the 22-year old should he continue to sit of first-team action.

Bamford has been a revelation in England’s second tier in the past, with the likes of Derby and Middlesbrough. A prolific frontman at this level, winning the Championship Player of the Year while in the North East.

Infact, before moving to Chelsea as a teeanger, the forward was a trainee for the Reds and appeared twice in their first team.

He may be hard to pin down, but should Forest capture him, the England U21 star would represent a major coup for Dougie Freedman. His arrival would help take some of the burden off the Forest frontline in shooting them up the league.

Would be hard to capture considering the financial restrictions, though could be the best signing available.

GARY GARDNER – ASTON VILLA

Any request for a loan fee may prove to be an obstacle in resigning Gary Gardner on loan, but the Aston Villa man would be a welcome addition. The 23-year-old enjoyed a productive spell at the City Ground at the back end of last season, netting four times in 18 appearances from the engine room.

Clearly, he has fond memories of his time there, having recently taken to Twitter to express his delight at the derby win over the Rams. The former England U21 star has a knack for popping up with goals, as proved with his stunning effort against Reading last year.

If a deal can be struck, Freedman would surely love to have him back in the ranks.

MODOU BARROW – SWANSEA

Despite being recalled from Blackburn Rovers in the summer to cover for Nathan Dyer’s departure, Modou Barrow has been unable to firmly dislodge the likes of Andre Ayew, Jefferson Montero and Bafetimbi Gomis up front at the Liberty Stadium.

With the Welsh outfit struggling at the wrong end of the table, and links with Spurs winger Andros Townsend, Barrow could soon become available once more. The Gambian burst onto the scene with a win against Arsenal last season, terrorising the Gunners’ backline with his pace.

Clearly available when the Swans squad is rounded out, the forward would add pace and urgency to Freedman’s side, as well as providing a lethal weapon on the counter attack.

JOEY O’BRIEN – WEST HAM

The Irish utility man would be a sensible signing, as he can cover a variety of positions and is unlikely to command a loan fee. The 29-year-old can’t get a look in as the Hammers push on with their evolution under Slaven Bilic.

Considering the gruelling Championship season, borrowing a player who can play across the backline and even in midfield would be a wise addition.

The former Bolton man is no world beater, but dependable in most roles – especially at Championship level.

JOSH CULLEN – WEST HAM

Another Hammer here. Josh Cullen has already played at Premier League, Europa League and Republic of Ireland’s U21 level, and is still only 19. Some pedigree.

An energetic central midfielder, he requires the graft necessary to make it the Championship, and is likely to endear himself to the frustrated Forest faithful with his industry. Surely a loan move to a big club would appeal to the young star as he looks to impress Slaven Bilic.

Injury to Dimitri Payet may force a reshuffle at Upton Park, though Cullen has a top class pedigree already and needs regular football at this stage of his career to truly build on that.

Three Tottenham players that need to go on loan this January

Tottenham have blossomed this season under Mauricio Pochettino’s guidance, with hopes raised in North London that a return to Champions League football is on the cards.

The White Hart Lane side boast a crux of promising young players that have taken on their trainer’s footballing ideals and look considerably stronger as a collective.

However, Pochettino has shown in his time at Spurs that he is not reluctant to part company with players that are not in his plans, with a summer exodus proving as much.

Despite continued participation in the Europa League and a build-up of fixtures, a host of the current group have been limited to little or no football this season.

As such, the January transfer window should be a reprieve for these three players, who will hope to spend more time on the pitch elsewhere for the rest of the season.

Kevin Wimmer

An Austria international with an impressive background in the Bundesliga, Wimmer’s signing in the summer was one that was treated with relative excitement.

However, with Belgian duo Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld ruling the roost at centre-half, the former Cologne man has not been handed the chance to play in the Premier League as yet.

With Euro 2016 around the corner and his nation participating, Wimmer needs regular football during the rest of 2015-16 to stand a chance of featuring.

A move to another Premier League club would be ideal to give him experience of English football and a chance to impress the Tottenham hierarchy, but a return to Germany seems more likely.

Alex Pritchard

After an impressive season at Brentford in 2014-15, this was tipped to be the season that Pritchard made an impression at Tottenham and in the Premier League.

However, debilitating injuries have seen the diminutive attacker spend most of his time on the treatment table instead of in contention for a place in Pochettino’s side.

When he is back fit and able to play, Pritchard faces extreme competition for a place in the starting line-up, with the likes of Erik Lamela, Andros Townsend, Nacer Chadli and Son Heung-min all in the running for a place on the right of midfield.

As such, a return to The Championship and a string of consistent games would be the perfect remedy to salvage a forgettable season to date and get back to his best.

Nabil Bentaleb

The Algerian enforcer was one of the standout players in a Tottenham team that finished fifth last season, but injuries have also blighted his chances this term.

While the African midfielder was on the sidelines, the likes of Eric Dier, Mousa Dembele and Dele Alli have thrived, meaning that Bentaleb has dropped down Pochettino’s preferences.

With Ryan Mason and Tom Carroll also in contention for a place in the centre of midfield, six months at another Premier League club would be an enticing tonic for the 21-year-old and allow him to return revitalised before next season.
