Journalist Craig Hope has revealed Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford was one of a few players forced back onto the pitch to applaud the away fans following the club's recent defeat.

Amid plenty of speculation about his fitness – having pulled out of England squad during the international break – the winger overcame his injury to start for the Red Devils on Sunday afternoon.

However, it's fair to say he wasn't of much use to Erik ten Hag as Newcastle United claimed a relatively comfortable 2-0 win over their Premier League rivals.

This was a hugely important game with both teams pushing for a finish inside the Champions League places. But at full-time, the Magpies moved up to third in the table, while Man United dropped to fourth.

This would have come as a bitter blow for the travelling fans who made the trip to St James' Park from Manchester and they may have been disappointed to not even receive any acknowledgment from Rashford and co at full time.

Perhaps with that in mind, somebody within the dressing room forced the Man United players back onto the pitch to after the final whistle had gone.

Speaking on his own YouTube channel, however, Hope revealed that most of the supporters had already left by that stage.

He said (6:04): “Now, on Rashford but he was among a group of Manchester United players who were dragged back out of the tunnel on full time to go and offer their applause to the Manchester United fans up there in level seven.

"The only problem was, they'd all gone by that point. They would have been better off offering their applause about five minutes earlier…”

You can understand why some fans wouldn’t have been keen to hang around long after full-time. After all, the game was all but decided in the 88th minute when Callum Wilson headed in Newcastle's second.

And very few Man Utd players did enough to warrant much of a warm response from their travelling supporters either.

Chelsea look set to lose Mason Mount this summer, with the latest reports suggesting that the England international could be set for a reunion with Thomas Tuchel at Bayern Munich.

What is the latest on Mason Mount at Chelsea?

Chelsea and Mount have been at an impasse when it comes to new contract negotiations for some time now and with the midfielder's deal at Stamford Bridge set to expire at the end of next season, there has naturally been a lot of interest from other top sides around Europe.

The Blues could be forced to cash in on the 24-year-old should they fail to agree on a new deal, or they risk losing him on a free transfer next season, as foreign clubs would be able to approach Mount under the Bosman ruling from January 2024.

The Times suggest that Bayern Munich are keen to tempt the former Derby County loanee to Germany this summer, where he could reunite with Tuchel, who replaced Julian Nagelsmann at the Allianz Arena recently.

It could be tough for the Englishman to turn down one of Europe's top clubs, especially as Graham Potter's side currently look unlikely to be playing Champions League football next season, with the Blues occupying 10th position in the Premier League.

While it might be frustrating for Chelsea to lose one of their most promising academy graduates, Mount has struggled to replicate his form from last season, as he has managed just three goals and two assists in the top flight so far this campaign, averaging a disappointing 6.72 rating from WhoScored for his performances.

Last season saw the attacking midfielder hit 11 goals and 10 assists in the Premier League, with a 7.19 average rating from WhoScored, so it is easy to see why Tuchel would want to link up with him again.

Fortunately for Potter, Chelsea may already have a ready-made replacement for the 24-year-old in Omari Hutchinson, who is continuing to dazzle in the Blues' academy since his summer switch from Arsenal.

Could Hutchinson replace Mount at Chelsea?

Chelsea would sign the teenager from their London rivals in the summer of 2022 and he has been a driving force for the U21 side in the Premier League 2 so far this term, notching an impressive seven goals and eight assists in 18 appearances.

His performances aren't much of a surprise when you consider he managed six goals and six assists in the same competition last season with the Gunners, which included a phenomenal goal against Crystal Palace.

Reports in recent weeks have claimed that the 35-year-old is a target for Spurs and Levy but Premier League rivals Chelsea are also interested.

Sky Sports journalist Melissa Reddy, writing earlier this month, claimed that both London sides have already made contact with 'formal talks to follow' as the Lilywhites eye a manager they tried to appoint in 2021.

This came after Nagelsmann's shock departure from Bayern last month, which arguably took the whole of Europe by surprise considering he just led them to a Champions League quarter-final whilst fighting on all fronts at the same time.

Bayern's loss, however, could've been Spurs' gain with reliable sources sharing that Nagelsmann has been Tottenham's 'favoured choice' to replace Antonio Conte.

For Spurs supporters who wish to see the former RB Leipzig boss step through the doors at N17, they may about to be disappointed, as news from Germany emerged this week.

According to Bild, Levy and co have been halted for now in their attempts to appoint Nagelsmann, with the outlet claiming that he has 'turned them down'. The tactician would apparently prefer to wait until this summer before making any decision on his future, with Chelsea also lurking.

Nagelsmann and Enrique are apparently 'considered favourites' for the Stamford Bridge job, but as per this report, it appears Spurs have been dealt a roadblock.

With Luis Enrique continuing to be linked with the role, despite again falling into that category, it seems like the man making these big decisions might never learn his lesson.

With two stints as the Spanish national team boss succeeding his tenure at FC Barcelona, the 52-year-old has enjoyed a meteoric rise to the top of the sport.

Enjoying fast, free-flowing football that relies upon a harsh vertical transition, his preferred 4-3-3 system could appeal to Spurs' current squad which is laden with pace on the counter. However, it is a similar method that Conte tried to employ, to little success, certainly not appealing to the fanbase.

Although the former Celta Vigo coach prefers a far more attractive branch of this philosophy, it still often surrenders the impetus that fans of the north London outfit have gone without for so long.

The shining light of Enrique's career thus far is undoubtedly the treble won with the Catalonian giants. Although this is an immeasurable feat, and not one to be downplayed, a front line of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar is sure to aid any push for the unprecedented.

Unfortunately for Levy, his current crop of players marks a stark downturn in quality.

Having worked with the best, perhaps the Gijon-born tactician might not be suited to motivating a group that needs more than just a tactical shift to make them play. The squad needs gutting, replacing the dead wood to truly enact a mentality shift.

Everton's proposed investment deal with 777 Partners is 'not expected' to happen at the moment, according to journalist Paul Brown.

What's the latest news surrounding potential investment in Everton?

Everton find themselves in a tricky situation both on and off the field and fans have been out in force to protest against the Goodison Park hierarchy at many of their home matches this season.

As per Sky Sports, Everton majority owner Farhad Moshiri is said to be seeking investment into the club to help fund the development of the new Everton Stadium currently being built.

The Liverpool Echo report that Miami-based American investment fund 777 Partners and New York-based sports investors MSP Sports Capital are both keen on supplying Everton with financial support.

Forbes detail that Everton have also recently been referred to an independent commission by the Premier League due to breaching the league's profit and sustainability rules during 2021/22, meaning that news of fresh investment will likely be a relief to supporters.

Away from matters at boardroom level, The Toffees also have a fight on their hands to retain their Premier League status and face a real danger of being relegated to the Sky Bet Championship.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, journalist Brown has said that rumours of a deal between 777 Partners and Everton were 'massively overstated' by some reports.

Brown said: "There were reports in Italy that 777 were interested or close to a takeover of the club. I think that's massively overstated. I know Everton have spoken to this group several times. I don't believe a full takeover was ever on the table with them.

"They are not significant investors in sport in the way that you would expect from people who want to take over and run a club completely in the Premier League.

"I understand they value the club far below what Moshiri does and that the chances of them investing in Everton are quite slim at the moment.

"It's not expected from within Everton that a deal is going to be done there at the moment."

What now for Everton?

Regardless of matters elsewhere, Everton boss Sean Dyche will be fully concerned with trying to keep Everton in the Premier League.

The Toffees have endured another difficult season in 2022/23 and have so far failed to learn the lessons of their near scrape with relegation last season under Frank Lampard.

Following a damaging 4-1 defeat to Newcastle United at Goodison Park in midweek, Everton have it all to do, starting with a relegation six-pointer away to Leicester City at the King Power Stadium next Monday evening.
